Studio in a School ASSISTANT TO THE DEPUTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Applied:7/15 This job is still posted on their website as of today, 10/14 but, I have been assured by the receptionst that it has indeed been filled, and I should no longer expect a response. Thank you.
Perry Rubenstein Gallery GALLERY ASSISTANT Applied:7/07; Interview: 7/13; Emailed thank you: 7/08; Received letter of regret: 7/15
HarperCollins: Children's JUNIOR DESIGNER Applied: 7/05; Interview: 7/14 This was the strangest interview of my life. Ever. And begs the question: What literary character should I identify with?
Not this, aparently. But I promise I've been busy. If you want to see what with, please stop by the Holiday Craft Sale this Sunday.
Hope to see you all there!
For those of you who just can't wait, here's a sneek peek into my life for the last few months:
The skin on the tomatoes may have been tough, and I'm not sure how healthy the BQE air is here (or the dead fish smell from the east river for that matter), but they tasted fine.
We have two bridges near by that we use to cross the BQE. One is a full traffic bridge and the other a smaller foot bridge. As with most places in New York, the smaller bridge gets it's fair share of litter and debris. Most of it is expected: beer & booze bottles, discarded junk mail, car parts. Others are not as expected:
A collection of padlocks.
A de-bristled broom.
Bruce Willis.
This bit of yard is an ever changing holiday celebration. As of a few weeks ago, the easter decorations came down and this melange of doodads came in for the Fourth of July. I am dissapointed to have to wait through the entire month of June for another changing of the yard.
This, my favorite neighborhood sign.
My sister sent me a link to this new Burda sewing site. If you are a sewer, it is just about the coolest thing. It's a pattern site where all patterns are copywrite free, easily downloadable and free. But not only that. They are also really cute, young and hip. Like you.
The plants just keep growing - and some are even blooming. I am starting to realize why maybe 48 seeds per pot was a little excessive. Notice the tomatoes and basil, post thinning.
Our first Geranium bloom. There are now about 7 of them.
Zinnias.
Tomatoes & basil bursting and busting out. Hopefully I haven't crowded them too much to at least grow big enough for a transplant.
Our Zinnias are sprouting. They are the first (and only) of the lot so far, but I am still very excited and proud. I am trying positive thinking and motivational pep talks to get the rest of the plants in gear. If no sprouts occur by the middle of next week, I may have to abandon this attempt and try again (this time with fewer than 48 seeds per pot).
